3D Self Portrait
Self portrait made in 3dsmax from photo reference and rendered with Mental Ray. Hair is done using the standard plugin that ships with 3dsmax.
This was just a quick weekend project. I think I spent about 8 hours on it start to finish. Never did get around to the glasses or a shirt. Still, it was a fun little test.

That is pretty awesome from scratch. When I get around to making a 3d scanner, I’ll contact you and we can totally digitize it(from one side at a time and then you’ll have to stitch it). Been on my ‘wanted to tinker with’ list for a while: See here: http://www.vimeo.com/8392566

Sounds interesting. With some decent lighting, a green screen, and a swivel chair/stool we could probably get enough to extract some data to work with. I wonder what fidelity is possible and resolution bounds exist. Of course, it would nice to work on someone else s head 😛 (it was a a little odd seeing myself that way)
